Energiespeicher erf
What is an energy recovery facility (ERF)?
An Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) produces energy in the form of electricity, heat or both through the combustion of residual waste. Residual waste (or black bag waste) is the non-recyclable waste that’s left after recycling. The facility treats non-recyclable waste as a resource instead of sending it to rot in landfill.
What is the energy reuse factor (ERF)?
This document specifies the energy reuse factor (ERF) as a KPI to quantify the reuse of the energy consumed in a data centre. ERF is defined as the ratio of energy being reused divided by the sum of all energy consumed in a data centre. The ERF does reflect the efficiency of the reuse process; the reuse process is not part of a data centre.
How much energy does the ERF generate per year?
Treating around 1.1 million tonnes of non-recyclable waste per annum by both rail and road the ERF generates enough electricity to power the equivalent of 211,000+ homes. We plan to invest in a major carbon capture facility at Runcorn that will capture almost 1MtCO2 per annum.
What is an ERF & how does it work?
The ERF will be part of the UK’s efforts to decarbonise its energy supply and help speed north London towards Net Zero. All modern ERFs are built with sophisticated pollution monitoring and control systems, which capture and control emissions from the facility.
What is the largest ERF in the UK?
Operational since 2014, our facility at Runcorn is one of the largest ERFs in the UK. Treating around 1.1 million tonnes of non-recyclable waste per annum by both rail and road the ERF generates enough electricity to power the equivalent of 211,000+ homes.
What does ERF stand for?
In 1996 Veolia built a state-of-the-art Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) in Tyseley, just to the east of Birmingham City Centre, which takes 350,000 tonnes of Birmingham’s rubbish each year and converts it into electricity. The ERF facility was built to comply with strict European emissions standards that came into force in 1996.
